AT RUBY JONES, FABRICS ARE EVERYTHING
We believe that fabric should inspire garment design—not follow it. Often, a project begins not with a sketch, but with the discovery of a material that sparks an idea. How it drapes, how it feels, and how it looks all suggest the shape it wants to become.
Fabric is also the single most significant factor in a garment’s environmental impact. Where and how it’s milled, how long it lasts, and how it ultimately breaks down all shape its footprint on the planet. We’re committed to making choices that keep our impact in mind—choosing natural or recycled fibers always.

Spring/summer 2026
"SUNNY DRIED" CANVAS
Our 100% cotton canvas is durable and strong, with a soft suppleness that only increases with use. Dyed by hand and dried under the sunny skies of Enshu, Japan, it reflects the richness of the elements. Dyeing in this old-fashioned way also eliminates the need for singeing and washing—fabric treatments that result in harmful CO2 emissions and consume a considerable amount of the earth's water. Each piece made from this canvas has a unique texture and color variance that can only come from slow, thoughtful hand processes.
LINEN-RAMIE BLEND
This cool, lightweight fabric embraces the natural qualities of linen and ramie. Woven from yarns that retain the fibers’ inherent irregularities, it reveals a richness and depth in its subtle unevenness. Hand washed at multiple stages of production, the properties of the fibers become more pronounced, with the softness of linen and stiffness of ramie interacting to create a gently wrinkled texture and a drape that is both fluid and structured. Â
This fabric is produced in small lots in Japan and dyed by hand, without the use of mechanical processes.
EMBROIDERED COTTON VOILE
This lightweight voile is woven by a small mill in Kyoto, Japan. It is soft, breathable, and gently crisp. Delicate daisy embroidery is scattered across the surface, adding subtle texture and charm while maintaining the fabric’s airy feel. Naturally breathable and made from pure cotton, the fabric is comfortable against the skin and designed for longevity.
OVERDYED linen-cotton
Crafted by skilled artisans in Okayama, Japan, this fabric combines ancient techniques with a vintage aesthetic to create a beautifully textured, rich appearance. Woven as a yarn-dyed gingham, the fabric is then dyed again to create a very nuanced color. From afar, the colors combine to look like a soft green, with intentional surface wrinkles and a subtle sheerness that combine to appear almost like aged silk. Made from a blend of linen and cotton, its 100% natural fibers are meant to last a lifetime.
cotton-linen waffle
Our lightweight waffle fabric is woven from a blend of 73% cotton and 27% linen, combining the softness of cotton with the natural strength of linen. Left undyed in a warm muslin tone, the fabric retains the subtle variation and character of the fibers themselves. Its softly textured waffle weave creates dimension while remaining breathable and lightweight. Like most of our fabrics this season, this textile is also woven in Japan by skilled craftspeople.
organic cotton rib
This organic cotton is deliciously soft! The entire process of fabric production occurs in the US—from pesticide-free cotton grown in Texas to the fibers being spun and knitted in North Carolina. Extremely low-impact, even the water used for washing is perpetually recycled at the mill. Seen in two shades, undyed natural cotton and marigold, it's the perfect material for our onesie tee.
japanese striped rib
Also extremely soft, this Japanese-made rib is structurally very similar to our solid-color rib. Knit in a heavier weight, it has a luxuriously thick feel, hugging the body with breathable and durable cotton. A classic stripe pattern adds a graphic element while maintaining the clean simplicity of the fabric.
recycled paper buttons
When we say natural and recycled materials, we mean all materials, down to the buttons! Made from recycled paper, these buttons have surprising durability and a horn-like look. Fully machine washable and dryable, they hold their shape and finish through repeated wear and care, proving that sustainable materials can be both attractive and enduring.

CASENTINO CLOTH
Casentino wool has been produced in the Casentino Valley of Tuscany since the Middle Ages. Originally made by monks for warmth and durability, it became known for its dense, felted texture and signature curly surface.
Today, it remains a rare textile—woven in small mills in Tuscany and prized for its rich texture, warmth, and history. We love it for its rugged durability, cozy feel, and whimsical appearance.
100% natural sheep's wool, farmed responsibly.
ORGANIC COTTON FLANNEL
Our organic cotton flannel is soft, breathable, and durable—bringing comfort without compromising on responsibility. Seen in four distinct plaids throughout the collection, two of which serve as lining for the Casentino items, each design balances muted tones with a subtle vibrancy, creating a palette that feels timeless and easy. The fabric is brushed for warmth and softness, making it ideal for layering through changing seasons.
Certified organic, our cotton is cultivated without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified organisms.
ORGANIC COTTON BRUSHED TWILL
Like our cotton flannel, our brushed twill has a soft, fuzzy surface that gives it a cozy warmth and a textured appearance. As a twill, however, it has the weight and structure for trousers and light outerwear. Our vibrant maple color is both natural and elevated, adding subtle depth when paired with other shades.
Certified organic, our cotton is cultivated without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified organisms.
ORGANIC COTTON WAFFLE
Our organic cotton waffle is airy yet structured, with a textured weave that feels as good as it looks. Soft and breathable against the skin, it drapes with ease while holding its shape, making it equally at home in a casual shirt or an effortless dress. When cared for, waffle knit fabrics last decades—without pilling and signs of wear.
Certified organic, our cotton is cultivated without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified organisms.
DEADSTOCK CORDUROY
This deadstock stretch corduroy gives new life to unused fabric, saving it from the waste stream and reducing the need for new production. The corduroy is composed almost entirely of natural cotton with 3% elastane that hugs the body and moves with the wearer.
This is our only fabric in the collection that is not 100% natural; however, as a deadstock fabric, it remains a responsible choice.
AMERICAN-MADE FLEECE
Typically a sweatshirt fabric, this American-made fleece is used unconventionally in our collection as the bodice of a dress. The fabric gives the dress an ease and comfort, while the silhouette allows for versatility.
100% cotton and milled in America, this fabric supports what remains of the local fabric industry.
VINTAGE AND BIODEGRADABLE BUTTONS
Design is in the details. Throughout the collection, we incorporate responsible and innovative button technology. Our corduroy Button-Up Shorts feature recycled cotton buttons that are velvety to the touch, with a subtle, unconventional look. Our maple Button-Up Shorts and Shirt-Jacket utilize natural corozo buttons, created from the nut of the Tagua palm tree. And finally, our Casentino Wool Vests are finished with vintage 1970s leather buttons—quality that is rarely seen today, repurposed for modern design.
All natural, all biodegradable.
